Top 5 Recipes of 2023

Here are the top 5 recipes of 2023 on Nourished by Caroline.

I have a little tradition of looking back at my most popular recipes each year. I typically compile a list of the top 10 recipes, but this year, I’m sticking to 5. Simply because I shared less new recipes this year and I’m not about to list half of the recipes that I shared in this list.

2023 was a busy year of transitions and so recipe creation took a bit of a pause. We sold our first house, we moved to Vancouver, my husband went back to university, I started a new job and I focused on my private practice work. Food photography and recipe creation are creative outlets for me. I love sharing them as ideas for my clients and for anyone interested in simple plant-based recipe. Since it’s not the primary focus of my work, it tends to be a last priority when my private practice and life get busy.

While I shared fewer recipes this year, I did share some of my favorites so far. This ramen and this shredded tofu bacon wrap have been weekly staples for us this year and I can’t get enough. You can also find my all-time favorite recipe in this list.

That being said, here are the top recipes on Nourished by Caroline this year.

Top 5 Recipes of 2023:

5. Chocolate Hazelnut Freezer Fudge:

This easy vegan freezer fudge is made with 8 ingredients in less than 15 minutes of preparation. It’s such a delicious frozen treat to keep in the freezer during warmer months. If you love that chocolate hazelnut combination, this one’s for you.

4. Maple Flax Pumpkin Seed Granola:

This is my go-to granola. It’s packed with oats and seeds and flavored with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla. It’s simple, sweet and full of big clumps. This granola is on the sweeter side compared to my other granola recipes, but it’s so good.

3. Perfect Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is my own favorite recipe this year and probably my favorite recipe that I’ve ever shared. These incredible vegan cookies are soft in the middle with slightly crispy edges. They’re the perfect combination of sweet and salty and have a generous amount of chocolate. If you try one recipe in this list, I recommend this one.

2. Vegan Lemon Mug Cake:

A simple cake made in the microwave in less than 5 minutes. All you need is a handful of pantry ingredients, plus fresh lemon juice and zest to make this easy single-serve dessert. Mug cakes have become a birthday tradition for us and this was last year’s version. It’s a good one and I’m happy to see it in this list!

1. Vegan Banana Bran Walnut Muffins (No Added Sugar):

These fruit-sweetened muffins are packed with fiber and make for a perfect healthy snack. They’re also versatile and can be made with different add-ins, including chocolate chips or raisins. I’m not surprised at all that these made it to the top. They’re a veganized version of the most popular recipe on the blog. These are so moist, naturally sweet and so nutritious. I hope that you’ll love them if you try them!

That’s it! These were the top 5 recipes on the blog this year. If you’re curious, you can check out the top 10 recipes from previous years below. And with that, I wish you all a happy New Year!
