Here’s our 2023 vegan Christmas menu for two. In this post, you’ll find our Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas brunch, Christmas dinner and New Year’s Eve dinner menus, plus the snacks, desserts and drinks we’ll enjoy over the holidays.
It’s that time of year again. Every year around Christmas, I share our vegan Christmas menus, in case it might give others ideas for their own plant-based feasts. This year, we’re just cooking for the two of us as we will be spending the holidays home in Vancouver. Enjoying a holiday feast is still one of my favorite parts of Christmas, so I’m still planning on cooking as much as I normally do. We’ll just enjoy leftovers for a few days, which is always a plus.
Each year, I plan to prepare a few familiar dishes, such as potatoes, gravy and roasted vegetables, along with a few new recipes. I love having a combination of familiar and comforting dishes, along with new and exciting recipes. Since I’m just cooking for my husband and I this Christmas, I won’t be testing the new recipes in advance like I would if I cooked for others. We’re keeping it fun and “simple”. That being said, here are the meals I’m planning to make around the holidays this year.
Christmas Eve Dinner
I always love making a good Christmas Eve dinner. Something a little different and elaborate than my usual dinners. This year, I’m making my favorite kale salad and amazing scalloped potatoes. For a bit of protein, I’m serving these with simple marinated tempeh (I’m not following any particular recipe for those).
- Marinated tempeh
- Ultimate creamy salt-and-vinegar scalloped potatoes (Oh She Glows for Dinner, p.147)
- The best shredded kale salad (Oh She Glows Every Day, p. 117)
Christmas Brunch
I’ve been making the same Christmas brunch for the past 4 years and I always look forward to it. As usual, I’m preparing the cinnamon rolls the day before so that they’re ready to bake in the morning. I’m serving them with our favorite store-bought vegan “bacon” and tofu scramble.
- Vegan cinnamon rolls with eggnog icing
- Vegan “bacon” – I love the lightlife vegan “bacon”
- Amazing soft tofu scramble
Christmas Dinner
For our main dish this year, I’m trying a vegan “turkey” for the first time. And as usual, I’m serving the main dish with our favorite go-to side dishes, including mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing and roasted vegetables for sides. And since it’s just the two of us, I won’t be making a big dessert. We’ll enjoy some vegan Purdy’s chocolate or leftover cookies if we want something sweet.
- Maple roasted carrots and Brussels Sprouts
- Vegan gravy
- Vegan instant pot mashed potatoes
- Vegan stuffing
- Tofu “turkey”
New Year’s Eve Dinner
Just like Christmas Eve, I love making a nice dinner for New Year’s Eve. Something delicious to finish the year and the holiday season. This year, I’m making my go-to vegan Caesar salad with a vegan pepperoni bread as per my husband’s request. It’s his family’s recipe and it’s delicious.
- Vegan pepperoni cheese bread
- Vegan Caesar salad with chickpea croutons
Holiday Snacks, Desserts and Drinks
I always love to bake a few cookie recipes and enjoy lots of cozy drinks this time of year. Here are the snacks, desserts and drinks that I’ll be making around the holidays at no specific time.
- Vegan Eggnog Latte
- Oat Nog Matcha Latte
- Vegan Matcha Sugar Cookies
- London Fog Sugar Cookies
- Peppermint Hot Cocoa
- Healthy Peanut Butter Crunch Balls
If you’re looking for more vegan Christmas menu inspiration, check out my 2020, 2021 and 2022 Christmas menus. I hope that these menus can inspire your own plant-based meals around the holidays. I also hope that it can show how we don’t need to “healthify” everything that we eat. It’s okay to eat a balance of nutritious and “less nutritious” foods, all year round.
Happy Holidays!
