If you’re a fan of Buffalo Caesar recipes, this pizza is for you. This plant-based pizza is packed with protein-rich Buffalo soy curls, kale, red peppers and vegan cheese. It’s then topped with a simple homemade tahini Caesar dressing. You can make it from scratch or use store-bought dough, Buffalo sauce and Caesar dressing. This recipe can be done in under an hour from scratch or can be an easy weeknight recipe if using store-bought options.
Ingredients and Substitution Notes:
- Pizza Dough: This quick pizza dough is ready in 15 minutes. All you need is all-purpose flour, olive oil, salt, instant yeast, sugar and water. You can use store-bought dough if preferred. You can also use whole wheat flour or a combination of white and whole wheat.
- Buffalo Soy Curls: You’ll need soy curls and Buffalo sauce. You can use store-bought vegan Buffalo sauce or make your own in less than 5 minutes. You’ll need vegan butter, hot sauce, sweet paprika, garlic powder, vegan Worcestershire sauce and white vinegar.
- Other Toppings: I recommend kale, red bell peppers and your favorite vegan cheese. Cheddar, Mozzarella and parmesan are all great options. I generally use Daiya or Violife. Feel free to add other vegetables of choice.

Recipe FAQ:
Soy curls are created by Butler Foods and are made from one ingredient: Soybeans. They come dehydrated and when rehydrated, the texture resembles chicken. Just like tofu, they don’t have a strong flavor and are a versatile source of protein. Add your flavoring of choice and use them as a chicken substitute in wraps, salads, tacos, pizza and more.
Soy curls can be found in some health food stores or vegan stores across Canada and the US. To find a store close to you, check out the map on Butler Foods’ website. You can also find them online at a higher price if you don’t find them at local stores.
If you have leftover Buffalo soy curls, I recommend cooking them in the air fryer or oven and using them in wraps, like this one. You can also add them to salads for protein.
If you can’t find soy curls, you can make Buffalo tempeh following this recipe.

Notes
Air Fryer Buffalo Soy Curls
Ingredients
- 1 bag (227g/8oz) soy curls
Buffalo Sauce
- 2/3 cup hot sauce (I used Frank's RedHot Sauce)
- 1/2 cup vegan butter
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon vegan Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Place the soy curls in a large bowl and cover with water. Let soak for 10 minutes to rehydrate.
- Meanwhile, add all the Buffalo sauce ingredients to a medium to large saucepan over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, stir to combine. Once the sauce is well mixed and starts to bubble, remove from heat. Set aside.
- Strain the soy curls. Press them to remove as much of the excess liquid as possible. I use the bottom of the large bowl to press them while in the strainer, over the sink.
- Transfer the soy curls to the saucepan with the Buffalo sauce. Stir until evenly coated with the sauce. There may be some sauce at the bottom, this is okay. If you prepare them in advance, they will keep absorbing the sauce.
- Scoop the soy curls and place them in the Air Fryer in a single layer. I recommend spreading them out a little to allow for even cooking. You will likely need to work two or more batches, depending on the size of your Air Fryer. I Recommend only cooking what you need, then storing the rest in the refrigerator in an air tight container until ready to cook and eat.
- "Fry" the soy curls in the air fryer for 10 minutes at 400℉, or until some of the edges start to brown and the curls start to crisp. I don't bother flipping them halfway, but if you notice that they brown quickly, you can do so.
- Enjoy warm in salads, wraps, sandwiches and more.
