Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegan eggnog of choice
  • 1/2 cup oat milk, plain
  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder

Instructions

  • Start by heating some water in a kettle. It's best not to use boiling water when preparing matcha.
  • Meanwhile, combine the vegan eggnog and oat milk in your drinking cup. Heat in the microwave until warm to your liking (2 minutes for me). Alternatively, you can heat it up in a saucepan. Again, avoid boiling hot liquids.
  • Add the matcha (sifted if possible) to a matcha bowl, along with approximately 1/4 cup of warm water. Whisk the matcha by moving the matcha whisk back and forth, until no clumps remain and the matcha is frothy.
  • Transfer the frothy matcha to your cup of warm oat milk. Stir to combine. Enjoy!

Notes

Use ceremonial matcha for the best results. If you're new to matcha, you can start with a smaller amount for a milder flavor.
Use your favorite vegan eggnog. I tried this recipe using Earth's Own Oat Nog and Silk's Festive Nog. Both worked well.
For a sweeter latte, use more eggnog. For less sweetness, use more oat milk. I love a 1:1 ratio for a sweeter latte or a 1:2 ratio for less sweetness.
I love to use a combination of vegan eggnog, oat milk and soy milk when I want a bit of protein in my latte. You can play around with the proportions to find the level of sweetness that's right for you. This is approximately a 1:1:1 ratio for me.
This recipe is incredibly versatile. Adjust it to your liking and have fun with it!
